A New Gas Cap?

It seems that Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D 22nd District New York) is in the process of drafting a bill that will impose a temporary gas cap, setting prices at the pump at $2.49 per gallon. Here are a few links:

LINK 1
LINK 2
LINK 3
LINK 4

On the surface this may seem link a welcome relief, but anyone who lived through the gas caps in the 70's can probably remember the long lines, and the gas shortages. There are definitely problems associated with such a move. I admit to not having researched this fully yet, but wiser minds than mine are more than welcome to comment here on why gas caps are not always the greatest idea.

Kinda sounds a bit like a typical political power play. The Dems propose it, knowing its potential harm, (but its instant appeal to the over-burdened public) and use it against the POTUS if he vetos, or blame him for the inevitable problems that come if he approves it.

I don't know. You are welcome to throw your $2.49 in.....

Thats all for now.....

SAY WHAT!?

Gas Station Employee Fired for Fighting Off Robber.

Find the link to this travesty HERE.

I can't believe this crap. What is this world coming to when a company DEMANDS or FORCES us to lay down and put our lives at the mercy of some thug!? Where is this attitude coming from in America today? I mean, we who fight for our rights, especially our 2nd Amendment rights are used to this kind of tactic from anti-gunners, but each time you see something like this it still boggles the mind.

What this statement says to me is that SuperAmerica is more concerned about the possibility of a lawsuit than the preservation of the basic human right to protect ones self from imminent danger or possible death.

I will post further contact details as I learn them. We need to show our support for this brave young man, and let this company know how infuriated we are over this type of action. This guy should be getting some well deserved recognition, not fired for saving a life! I for one, am outraged at this type of behavior, and will be even more so if this gets swept under the rug and no one calls this company to task.

I know some of you say, well just don't work there. Their company, their rules. And thats fine. Obviously you are not one of the people who is able to see what the problem is here.

There are some contact links in the above info. I will post more after I throw up.....

Oh. I forgot to list this QUOTE :

Capt. Rick Mathwig of the Roseville Police Department said authorities advise people not to take action when faced with a robbery. "When you start resisting at some way shape or form, the suspect who may not have intended on using the weapon that he or she came with may use it intentionally or unintentionally when faced with a conflict," he said.

Its even worse when this crap is taught to the people by law enforcement. Just lay down now. Don't resist. They MIGHT HURT YOU if you resist. (Then again they MIGHT HURT YOU ANYWAY. Can you put your very life in the hands of a criminal?) Give them whatever they want, including your HEAD if they decide to take it. Just ONE MORE REASON to have the ability, PROPER knowledge, and the TOOLS necessary to protect yourself.

I feel sick again.....

Mike Judge Talks New Live-Action Beavis and Butt-Head Film

'I used to hate the idea for years, and now I think maybe there's something there,' writer/director tells MTV News.

A bit off track for my usual posts, but definitely something I'd watch. Go HERE for the full scoop.

A little juvenile, but isn't that what makes it so damn funny?

Also, while you're at it, check THIS out. Good stuff.

And a joke my Dad told me the other day. Its a bit mature so fair warning.

Monica Lewinsky was looking at herself nude in a mirror, after a relaxing bath. Her frustration over her lack of ability to lose weight was depressing her. In an act of desperation, she decided to call on God for help. "God... if you take away my love handles, I'll devote my life to you," she prayed. And just like that... her ears fell off!

Heh, heh.

And last but not least, some examples of random stupidity from varying sources.

I was at the checkout of a local retail store. The clerk rang up $46.64 charge. I gave her a fifty dollar bill. She gave me back $46.64. I gave the money back to her and told her that she had made a mistake in MY favor. She became indignant and informed me she was Educated and knew what she was doing, and returned the money again. I gave her the Money back... same scenario! I departed the store with the $46.64.

I walked into a Starbucks with a buy-one-get-one-free coupon for a Grande Latte. I handed it to the girl and she looked over at a little chalkboard that said 'buy one-get one free.' 'They're already buy-one-get-one-free,' she said, 'so I guess they're both free'. She Handed me my free Lattes and I walked out the door.

One day I was walking down the beach with some friends when one of them shouted, 'Look at that dead bird!'. Someone looked up at the sky and said, 'Where'?

While looking at a house, my brother asked the real Estate agent which direction was north because, he explained, he didn't want the sun waking him up every morning. She asked, 'Does the sun rise in the north?' When my brother explained that the sun rises in the East, and has for sometime, she shook her head and said, 'Oh I don't keep up with all that stuff.'

I used to work in technical support for a 24/7 call center. One day I got a call from an individual who asked what hours the call center was open. I told him, 'The number you dialed is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.' He responded, 'Is that Eastern or Pacific time?' Wanting to end the call quickly, I said, 'Uh, Pacific.'

My sister has a lifesaving tool in her car designed to cut through a seat belt if she gets trapped. She keeps it in the trunk.

My friends and I were on a beer run and noticed that the cases were discounted 10%. Since it was a big party, we bought 2 cases. The cashier multiplied 2 times 10% and gave us a 20% discount.

I couldn't find my luggage at the airport baggage area, so I went to the lost luggage office and told the woman there that my bags never showed up. She smiled and told me not to worry because she was a trained professional and I was in good hands. 'Now,' she asked me, has your plane arrived yet?'

While working at a pizza parlor I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. He appeared to be alone and the cook asked Him if he would like it cut into 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding. 'Just cut it into 4 pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces.'

The Presidential "Race"

I usually try to refrain from commenting on POTUS issues. It is too open ended, and people tend to get all inflamed and cranky. However, some current things cropping up are just aggravating me to no end. One of the issues that is currently getting my boxers in a knot is Race.

Now granted, the race of the candidate may be important to a few unenlightened groups or individuals who collectively exhibit the IQ of a piece of bread, but for most rational adults, I don't think it really matters that much. The fact that the media and other groups continue to assume that race is an issue, and continue to bring it to the forefront, is whats really to blame. I think if people would shut the hell up about the race issue, that it would quietly go away.

But we can't have that now can we? Oh Dear God No! I mean, if race were no longer an issue, then so many groups and people who make their MONEY from racial issues would be out of a JOB! How horrifying! (and you can draw your own conclusions as to which groups and individuals profit the most from racial issues)

I mean, if race were no longer an issue, these people might, GASP, have to get real jobs and earn their money! They might even lose their media spotlight, which could diminish their own political aspirations! And that will just not do! Theres PROFIT in racism, and as long as theres money to be made, theres people who will exploit race (in the interest of peace don't you know) in order to reap those profits.

Now of course there are groups and individuals to whom race does matter, but are they really worth mentioning?

What if the race of a candidate had NOTHING to do with it? What if it was instead that they are a confirmed liar, or a hypocrite on so many things that have come out of their mouths? Do some research into all 3 viable candidates. Look at speeches they have made, and things they have said, and the way they have voted on issues over the years.

Do a little research and see where they have outright lied about things. The lists of outright falsehoods available with just a tiny bit of research are staggering. If you honestly do a little work, you can see who is the most deceitful candidate. Who is the one who tells the most outright lies, or has the most things to hide? Who is the most hypocritical? Who has flip-flopped more than a trained seal? Who promises things that it is IMPOSSIBLE for a POTUS, according to the CONSTITUTION to even accomplish? How many have read the Constitution and actually know what it is a POTUS can and cannot do?

I know its a stretch to think anyone will actually do any in-depth research on their own, rather than being spoon-fed their ideas by THE MEDIA and its IDIOT BOX. People for the most part, are lazy, and prefer to be led around by the nose it seems. It takes all the pressure off. Its so much easier than voting based on your OWN research, then having to own up to your mistake if the person you voted for ends up being a turd. Sooo much easier to get your voting ideas from somewhere else, and blame them for lying to you if your candidate turns out not so great.

If more people would actually take the time to do some simple research, we would actually have informed voters, who would vote based on real issues, not on some fairy-tale about what President X is going to do for you, told to you by your Idiot Box.

There are links to the Constitution, and other Historical US documents on the right. You can read through them and they will tell you what a President's Powers are. Anything else they promise you is just like putting lipstick on a pig.....

A New Toy

I just got my new toy last night. A Ruger Security-Six .357 Revolver. (Will try to post some pics later) She is stainless and she is a beauty! Can't wait to test her out.

I'll post the range data later on today.

Now for a good cup of
Barry's Earl Grey and I'm off.....

Viewers? Really?

Wow. I'm stunned. It appears that real people, besides me, are actually reading this cra......er....uhmm...these thoughtful musings of mine! HA! Ahem.....

On a side note, a really interesting thing happened to me today. I normally carry in a custom leather IWB holster. Today, I was slumming it a bit, and decided it would be okay if I popped down to the store wearing sweats. I had recently gotten a light weight nylon type IWB holster, the kind with a reversible metal clip that goes over your belt. (so us southpaws can use it)

So I hitched up the sweat pants, tied them securely, and adjusted the new rig. It was lighter than my old holster, and was quite comfortable. I wiggled around at every angle, crouched, stood up fast, bent over, and even jumped up and down a bit to make sure things were going to stay in place, and out I went. (I am glad no one saw me doing all that....woulda thought I needed my meds)

Anyway, I get to the store. I was going to just get some tea, but as it so happened lots of things started to look very good, and wanted me to buy them. So there I was.....armload of goodies standing at the counter, when all the sudden I feel the rig let loose from my waist and fall quickly down the inside of my pant leg! Fell all the way down and stopped with the muzzle resting on the top of my boot! THE HORROR! (my wife claims the horror I felt was from the fact that I was wearing sweats and boots in public, but I assure you it wasn't!)

So what to do? Line of people behind me, and the clerk looking at me funny. My mind went blank. (stupid brain) In a flash of panic, I threw all the stuff on the counter none too gently, and quickly knelt down to 'tie my shoe'. Realizing that I had my boots on, I shoved the end of the rig back up into my sweats a bit, and jammed the whole pant leg, rig, and all down into my boot. It did NOT fit. I jammed it in as best I could, stood slowly and grinned sheepishly at the rather annoyed clerk, and quickly paid for my stuff and limped the hell outta there!

I could feel the people staring at me! I got to the truck and got the rig fished out, stuck it back in my waistband, and hauled outta there.

When I got home, I set the rig on my computer desk, and busted out laughing as I realized I had left my goodies at the store! What a day!

Don't laugh! And I'm never wearing sweat pants again.....

Too Old To Play Games?

Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a huge fan of Robert E. Howard. You can find a link to All Things Howard to the right. I am especially interested in his character Conan, with whom some of you might be familiar.

I am also an avid gamer and RPG fanatic, and have played Dungeons & Dragons in virtually all of its forms since it first appeared on the shelves when I was a kid. Imagine my utter joy when the PC gaming company FUNCOM announced THIS!

For the Love Of All Things Holy, I MUST HAVE IT! (wow, sometimes my level of geek astounds even me!)

Anyway, fans of Online Games, RPG's, MMO's, or Conan in particular should definitely check this out.

Word Of Warning: Can be highly addictive, and is known to cause distinctly high levels of
Wifus Aggrivatus so be careful.

The Plague

Sorry folks that I have not been able to post in the last day or so, but it seems I have caught some terrible plague from my rug rats that has had me well nigh beaten down. Weird that they were sick, but not nearly so bad as it got into me. Ah well.....

While browsing the 'net, I did run across a site that had some quotes by historical figures in regards to some 2nd amendment issues. Check it out HERE.

See you soon.

Derius

Also, see this quote from the NRA-ILA Website:

"
On April 30, the U.S. Department of Interior, through the National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, issued a proposed rule to amend the current strict regulations on firearms in national parks and wildlife refuges. NRA-ILA led the effort to amend the existing policy regarding the carrying and transportation of firearms on these federal lands. The public has until June 30 to comment on the proposal, and NRA-ILA strongly urges members to file comments in support."

Go HERE, read the rest, and let them hear your voice and know how you stand on the issue.

Internet Skill +1

Well, I've done it. After about a half gallon of Earl Grey, (made the special Irish Way) I have finally conquered the internet gods a bit and learned how to do the Links To Other Interesting Things thing. What a pain. Why can't they just make a one button clicky type thing for those of us over the age of 15? Grrr. My kids can really whoop this stuff that often leaves me shakin' my head in awe and wonder.

Okay, maybe not awe and wonder. Maybe its delirium brought on by lack of sleep and too much tea. Either way, It still makes you feel funny. Hrrmm, lessee, what else.....Oh! I remember! My kids have begged and cried until I decided to play Rock Band with them. As a musician all my life, I balked at first, but let me tell you, this game is downright FUN! There I said it! FUN!

It has a semi realistic set of virtual drums, that approximates a real drum set, complete with foot pedal and wooden drum sticks. Sadly, no cymbals though. Anyway, add to this a pretty decently built plastic copy of a Fender Stratocaster complete with whammy bar, and a microphone, and you've got yourself many hours of hard rocking joy! I firmly suggest that you try it at least once, young or old.

It also has a pretty good song list, with a lot more downloadable from XBOX Live. Songs range from really good old 60's, 70's, & 80's Classic Rock, to 90's and later craptastic stuff that the kids have been told is really music today. Oh well, the kids are at me, and Mississippi Queen by Mountain is playing, so I'm off. Never thought a game could help you bond with the kids, but its getting them interested in music like I never could.

Oh, be sure to check out Barry's Teas for some Irish Goodness. Later Y'all.

A New Beginning

Hello, my name is Derius. I have recently decided to try my hand at this blogging thing. I've seen some good ones, and I've seen some really bad ones, so I figure if I can fall somewhere in the middle I'll be doing OK.

I originally wanted to create a blog to try to reach folks who are handicapped, disabled, or otherwise impaired, and who may not be able to train using traditional methods, but who are still interested in firearms for either self defense, hunting, or sport.

Having certain physical limitations myself, I have had to learn to train differently so that these potential negatives were turned into positives. I intended to share my insight, knowledge, and training with others. (What little there is!)

That being said, I still intend to do just that. However, I was given some advice by someone whom I admire, and have a lot of respect for. Those of you who frequent The Firing Line, The High Road, or various other forums, may know him. His name is LawDog. (As soon as I figure out how to create links to these forums and to other blogs, I will post them.) In the time being, any search engine will point you in the right direction, so go check them out.

He advised me to not limit myself to any one subject, and to blog on whatever happens to be in my head. (Which after some thought, may not necessarily be a good thing!) But I am going to go with the flow and see what happens.

In closing, those of you who are sticklers for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the like will probably get bent severely out of shape, for I am no word-smith. I will do the best I can to make things legible, but I have been known to confound and confuse the best professors and spell-checkers alike.

I always try to be civil, and keep the cursing to a minimum, because I believe a man should be able to properly convey any emotion he feels without being vulgar, but there may be some subject matter or language that certain folks with delicate sensibilities may find inappropriate from time to time so be forewarned.

Thanks for coming, and please feel free to comment and let me know if you like the place, or if you have any suggestions for making things better. I'm off for bed.....
